This bizzare fiction novel I borrowed from my defacto girlfriend.
I wasn't too sure about it at first but it sounded like something I would enjoy reading after having scanned over the back cover of the book. It mentioned a dream world, talking cats and raining fish.
I am definitely into strange stories like that.
I was still unsure about whether or not I enjoyed the book until I got atleast a quater of the way through, then I couldn't put it down long, before I was itching to know what was going to happen next.
I was wrapped in the story most the way through to the very end.
At the beginning an unexplained phenomenon occurs. Natural or not? Noone knows.
This whole happening starts a domino effect that makes for a very interesting story of which the conclusion is impossible to try and guess.
It has alot of very fascinating characters with shining personalities. The story is based mainly around 2 characters. One an eccentric old man whom is surrounded by mystery and unusual events wherever he goes and the other, a high school boy reclus who makes a drastic move to leave his studies as he is lured for reasons beyond his comprehension on a journey.
These two characters mysterious lives eventually converge. What happens? I highly recommend you read this book and find out for yourself.
Haruki Murakami definitely lives up to the highly creative/imaginitive stereotype of the Japanese.
He gives this novel the feel of an anime with his enigmatic storytelling which keeps you puzzled and captivates the readers own imagination.
